Zirconium sheets and plates typically consist of over 99.2% zirconium with minor traces of hafnium (up to 4.5%) due to their natural co-occurrence. Other impurities like oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and iron are tightly controlled to enhance properties. Zirconium exhibits excellent mechanical properties, with a tensile strength of 330-580 MPa, yield strength of 200-400 MPa, and elongation of 14-40%, depending on the grade and treatment. These are highly ductile, heat-resistant materials with a low neutron absorption cross-section, ideal for nuclear, chemical processing, and aerospace applications. Their exceptional corrosion resistance further boosts their versatility.
