Invar UNS K93603 is a nickel-iron alloy composed primarily of nickel (approximately 36%) and iron (balance). It is known for its exceptional low thermal expansion coefficient, making it stable over a wide temperature range. This alloy also contains trace amounts of manganese (0.3-0.6%) and carbon (up to 0.03%) to enhance its mechanical properties. Invar 36 sheets and plates exhibit high strength, excellent dimensional stability and good machinability at low temperatures, making them suitable for precision instruments, cryogenic applications, and aerospace components. They maintain a tensile strength of around 550-600 MPa and a yield strength of 200-250 MPa.
